(February 2015) (Learn how and when to remove this template message) The Apple Watch, released in 2015 Wearable computers, also known as body-borne computers or wearables are miniature electronic devices that are worn under, with or on top of clothing.[1] This class of wearable technology has been developed for general or special purpose information technologies. It is also used in media development. Wearable computers are especially useful for applications that require more complex computational support, such as accelerometers or gyroscopes, than just hardware coded logic. Wearable computing devices are variously defined. For example, consumers often refer to wearable computers as computers that can be easily carried on the body, or systems with a heads-up display or speech activated. This contrasts with academics that define wearables as a system that can perform a set of functions without being constrained by the physical hardware of the system.

  • 3. Introduction to Wearable Computing.  Wearable computing is the study or practice of inventing, designing, building, or using miniature body-borne computational and sensory devices. Wearable computers may be worn under, over, or in clothing, or may also be themselves clothes .  Characteristics of wearable computers are UNRESTRICTIVE , UN MONOPOLIZING, OBSERVABLE, . CONTROLLABLE , COMMUNICATIVE.  It is consists with Hardware Design & Software Design.  Operating System ,Input Devices ,Display System ,Networks ,Power Sources are components of Wearable Computers.  Wearable Computing used in Military , Health , Communication , Entertainment , education, Face Recognition , inspection etc. 3

Advantages Disadvantages  Enhanced Communication.  Multi-tasking .  Efficiency .  Mobility .  Convenience .  Flexibility .  Equipment can be heavy, Expensive.  Some Wearable Computers can consist of a lot of wiring.  Can cause irritation in heat, Side- Effects such as Headaches.  It may become easier to get data on an individual if the item is lost/stolen .  Smaller space of storage .  Network Bandwidth . 4

Conclusion.  Wearable computer is A Small Portable Computer That Is Designed To Be Worn On The Body During Use.  In this wearable computer differs from PDA’S (personal digital assistant),which are designed for hand held use.  The input and output components of wearables are worn close to the user's sensors (eyes and ears) and actuators (hands and mouth).  Whatever area wearable computer technology is applied to we can see that it will improve the Quality of life and make day to day life less complicated.  The use of mobile and wearable computers as actual “tools” on the construction site will enable interaction with smart infrastructure systems in the future. 5
